On the Seventh Day, I Worked

BrentPetersonWorking

God, I’m tired.

I have to admit this year has been exhausting.

Not just physically, but also emotionally and spiritually.

I’ve tried to maintain a healthy balance, but I do not feel I’ve stuck with enough good habits. I reserve the weekends, especially Sundays, to “catch up” on sleep and general rest.

I now remember how little margin there is in that approach.

The Second Bible Verse That Haunts Me

The second verse that has haunted me is also from Jesus:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’

Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

(Matthew 7: 21-23)

2 Bible Verses That Haunt Me

There are a number of Bible versions that really convict me.

They stop me in my tracks, and hang over me. These versions haunt me.

They cause me to search for direction. And that’s not a bad thing.

Do other people feel the same way? Are there verses in the Bible that stick with you as well?

Throughout my life, there have been two verses that have really haunted me and caused me to seek direction. It would be a blessing to receive your feedback.

Jesus’ Last Two Words (you may be surprised)

FullTimeChristianityBlog

Quick Bible Trivia:

What were the last two words spoken by Jesus on earth, as recorded in the Bible?

In fact, Jesus said the two last words not once, by twice!

If you already know the answer, I confess you have me beat.

I was surprised by the answer.

Stop Hiding at Church

For the next ten years, I tried to stay involved in Bible study groups usually during the token Sunday School hour.

All of the gatherings were inside church buildings in an enclosed classroom.

During that time, I was never noticed once by a stranger.

I realize now I was a greater witness to the world in those thirty minutes under an oak tree than I was ten years in a church building classroom.
